๐๐ข๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ญ๐๐ฅ, ๐๐๐ง๐ข๐ฅ๐- On August 30-September 1, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) ECAN Monitoring and Evaluation Division (EMED) Dr. Arnica Mortillero and ECAN Policy and Research Planning Division (EPRPD) Chief Mr. John Francisco Pontillas, joined the 1st National Workshop and High-Level Launch of 30×30 Philippines aiming to protect and conserve 30% of the planetโs land and oceans by 2030.
Guided by the theme: โCatalyzing a pathway to high-quality 30×30 implementation in the Philippines,โ the PCSDS, along with representatives from the national government; civil society; private sector; Indigenous Peoples; local communities; nonprofits and academic institutions, undertook a series of workshops and stocktaking for the 30×30 implementation in the Philippines,as part of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework adopted in December 2022 by the 15th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biodiversity, of which Philippines is a member.
An initial roadmap on the implementation of the 30×30 targets and a draft policy guidelines on the Identification and Recognition of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECM) were also presented as part of the contributory initiatives to support the attainment of the global conservation targets.
PCSDS will be working closely with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through its Biodiversity Management Bureau (EMB), and other environmental organizations in Palawan, guided by the Republic Act No. 7611, or the Strategic Environmental Plan for Palawan Law, and its environmental knowledge of the province since PCSDโs establishment in 1992.
The three-day convention was also graced by DENR Undersecretary Atty. Juan Miguel Cuna, together with other dignitaries from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Wildlife Conservation Society, High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in the Philippines, and Global Ocean Alliance and Campaign for Nature, among others.

Sa pagpupulong, ibinahagi ang paunang plano sa pagsasakatuparan ng โ30×30 targetsโ, at ng โdraft policyโ para sa โIdentification and Recognition of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECM)โ. Makikipagtulungan ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), kasama ang Biodiversity Management Bureau (EMB) nito, at ng ang ibang pang organisasyong pangkalikasan sa Palawan; gagabayan pa lalo ng Batas Republika Bilang 7611, o mas kilala bilang Strategic Environmental Plan for Palawan Law; kasama ang kaalaman ng ahensiya mula nang itatag ang ahensiya noong 1992.
Dinaluhan din ito nina DENR Undersecretary Atty.
