The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) Staff, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)- Sustainable Interventions for Biodiversity, Oceans and Landscapes (SIBOL), has officially launched an innovative software application to facilitate citizen participation.

The โ€˜Sumbong Appโ€™ is specifically designed to empower citizens and enable their direct involvement in reporting environmental violations and grievances to government authorities. The app was piloted yesterday, June 20, as a significant step forward in the enforcement and prosecution efforts to address environmental law violations in Palawan.

In recognition of the importance of the accessible partnership between Palawenos and the mobile app in securing environmental stability in Palawan through digital governance, PCSDS Director Levita Lagrada underscored: โ€œIt is important that the public is given the opportunity to report issues and violations they have personal knowledge about. After all, they are also the ones directly impacted by the destruction of the environmentโ€.

This collaborative and breakthrough project between PCSDS and USAID-SIBOL can be conveniently downloaded and accessed through Google Play.

โ€œThe PCSD proudly adopts digital governance that encompasses norms, institutions, and standards to regulate sustainable development and use of digital technologies to ensure equality by addressing multi-dimensional issues affecting Palawan,โ€ Director Lagrada added.
