The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) in partnership with the Peace and Order Program (POP) of the Provincial Government of Palawan donated 108 pcs of confiscated reef-fish-for-food (RFFs) to Lualhati Women Center of Palawan and Bahay Pag-Asa Youth Center in Puerto Princesa yesterday, March 1.

The donated fish were confiscated last Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Puerto Princesa City International Airport in accordance with PCSD Administrative Order No. 5 or the Guidelines for the Regulation and Monitoring of Catching, Culture, Trade, Transport, and Export of Reef-Fish-for-Food in Palawan and PCSD Administrative Order No. 12 or the Detailed Guidelines in the Implementation of RA 9147 in Palawan. The seizure of the said fishes was due to the lack of necessary permits from the PCSD.

The PCSDS partners with different rescue, rehabilitation, and foster homes in Puerto Princesa to become donees of the RFF confiscations. This is in line with Section 28.3 of the Joint DENR-DA-PCSD Administrative Order No. 01 which grants PCSDS the authority to donate seized species fit for human consumption to non-profit, charitable, or penal institutions.
