𝐁𝐠𝐲. 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧, 𝐏𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲- Led by Acting Executive Director Niño Rey C. Estoya, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) donated a total of 100 chainsaw units to municipal and local risk disaster responders in Palawan, held at the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Training Institute (PSDTI) on June 30.
The chainsaw units, which were confiscated from individuals who operated them without chainsaw permits issued by PCSDS, were donated to the representatives of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Kilos Agad Action Center (KAAC), Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC), and Puerto Princesa Underground River, among others.
PCSD Chairman Victorino Dennis M. Socrates hailed the importance of the event, underscoring its contribution for the future success of disaster risk response in Palawan.
“Government is the embodiment, the tangible manifestation, the personification of the collective will that transforms a society into a community—we take pride in being government workers, and of course, we recognize that the service we provide as disaster risk responders is not only essential but also increasingly vital as climate change continues to impact,” Gov. Socrates said.
Aside from PCSD Chair Gov. Socrates, the ceremony was also attended by US Forest Service Program Manager Mr. Kyle Horton, as the guest of honor and Board Member Ferdinand Zaballa who also serves as Vice Chair of PCSD.
This activity was part of the celebration of the 31st Founding Anniversary of PCSD.
