PCSDSโthrough its ECAN Education and Extension Division (EEED)โis taking decisive steps to embed gender-responsive practices into sustainable development. By combining community engagement with inter-agency coordination, PCSDS is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive 2026 Gender and Development (GAD) Plan informed by national guidelines and frameworks.

On November 14, 2025, EEED convened a Client Consultation and Baseline Data Gathering session at PSDTI in Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City. This event brought together 30 stakeholders from barangays, youth offices, schools, and religious sectors. The aim was to strengthen inclusivity by engaging diverse community sectors and identifying their gender needs, which will be taken into account in the agencyโs plans, activities, and programs. The event also served as a venue for gathering baseline data on GAD, focusing on participantsโ levels of awareness and their involvement in the agency’s advocacy, communication, and education programs.

Following the consultation, from November 18-19, 2025, a representative from PCSDS-EEED, who is also a member of the PCSDS Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS), participated in a workshop organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). This workshop specifically focused on updating the National GAD Technical Working Group on the progress of the GAD sectoral baseline data gathering activity. The event provided a valuable platform for exchanging insights on the interview schedules and baseline data collection, fostering a more holistic and inclusive approach to gender and development initiatives within the DENR. By facilitating this collaborative workshop, the ERDB GAD FPS aimed to strengthen the coordination and alignment of GAD efforts across the various sectors and agencies involved.
The proactive measures taken by PCSDS and its partners reflect a strong commitment to advancing gender equality and sustainable development. By prioritizing community engagement and inter-agency collaboration, these initiatives not only address the specific needs of diverse stakeholders but also contribute to the broader goal of achieving a more equitable society. The ongoing efforts will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping a more inclusive future for all.
