On April 17, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) ECAN Monitoring and Evaluation Division (EMED) presented the results of the PCSDS Port Barton water quality assessment 2022 to the members of the Sangguniang Barangay of Bgy. Port Barton in San Vicente, Palawan.
The said PCSDS water quality assessment findings revealed a high concentration of Coliform bacteria in Port Barton, raising the alarm on its possible repercussions on both public health and the local economy.
To curb the proliferation of bacteria, the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Port Barton has planned to construct a Sewage Treatment Plant Facility in the said barangay, which will be funded by the Municipal Local Government Unit (MNLGU) of San Vicente. They plan to utilize the research findings of PCSDS as a basis and reference for their requests.
Aside from PCSDS District Management Division (DMD)-North Chief Apollo Regalo, the meeting was also attended by representatives from Port Barton Marine Protected Council.
