
𝗝𝗲𝗷𝘂 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮- Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)-South Deputy District Manager John Vincent Fabello attended and finished the 8th UNESCO World Network of Island and Coastal Biosphere Reserve (WNICBR) training course for biosphere managers on June 27-29, 2023.
The WNICBR is one of the thematic networks of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve Programme in which the Palawan Biosphere Reserve (Palawan BR) is also a member through the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) as the Administrative Authority.
The training course focused on ecological restoration and highlighted lectures on Management Strategy and Guidelines of Man and the Biosphere Project in the Republic of Korea, the Framework in Realization Towards a Carbon-Neutral Society, and the Endangered Species Conservation Project in the Core Zone of Jeju Island.
Presentations were delivered by each participating biosphere reserve representative. Delegates also visited the Seongsan Ilchulbong/Hado-ri Migratory bird sanctuary and a UNESCO World Heritage site – the Manjanggul Lava Tube, the 12th longest lava tube in the world. They also attended a class in traditional bread making at the Harae-ri Eco-Tourism Village before Stream Trekking the Hyodon-cheon.
