On June 9, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)-North participated in the Inception workshop for the ‘INSPIRE Project: Enabling Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management Through Responsible Seafood Economies’ held at Ysidoreβs Garden, Roxas, Palawan.
Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF), the project aims to address the exploitation of aquatic resources by keeping track of domestic supply chains through responsible seafood sourcing (RSS)and creating enabling conditions that incentivize the reduction of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing products. These efforts support fisheries management and conservation.
The project is a collaborative initiative involving the Community Centred Conservation (C3) Philippines, Better Seafood Philippines, and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership.
