On June 9, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) through the District Management Division (DMD) – Calamian served as resource speaker during the Training of Trainers (TOT) in a bid to encourage and reinforce the community’s commitment to proper waste disposal and segregation in Coron, Palawan.
Held at the Municipal Annex Building, PCSDS DMD-Calamian Ms. Anafrael Roxas discussed the Seven (7) Ecological Principles and Sustainable Development with the elected barangay officials of Bgy. Poblacion 1-6 and Bgy. Tagumpay.
The TOT was organized by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Coronin partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Calamianes Resilience Network (CRN), and PCSDS. Its primary goal was to equip the elected barangay officials with the relevant technical knowledge on the importance of proper waste disposal and segregation to further enable them to impart the same practices and information to their constituencies and peers. The TOT aimed to complement the implementation of Republic Act No. 9003, also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
