On February 13, 2024, at 2:20 PM, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) DMD Calamian headed by District Manager Ma. Christina D. Rodriguez made a significant conservation effort by rescuing and releasing a juvenile Green Sea Turtle together with PNP Maritime Chief PSMS Arwyn Dale R. Eleazar. The turtle, measuring 16 inches in length and 13 inches in width, was discovered stranded by a concerned citizen and was turned over to PNP Maritime Coron Station at Barangay Tagumpay, Coron, Palawan.

The rescue operation was initiated after a concerned citizen reported the stranded turtle to the PNP Maritime Coron Station. Patrolman Eros C. Gonzalgo promptly informed the PCSDS Coron Office, leading to the turtle’s retrieval.

Upon examination, the rescued turtle was identified as a Juvenile Green Sea Turtle by Benjamin Adriano, Jr., a member of the PCSD Coron Staff. Subsequently, the DMD Calamian Staff, in collaboration with PNP Maritime Personnel released the turtle back into its natural habitat at Bali Beach, Barangay Tagumpay, Coron, Palawan.

This successful rescue and release underscore the importance of public awareness and collaboration in marine conservation efforts.
