๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐; ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ง๐ ๐, ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฐ๐๐ง – In a successful operation led by the PCSDS DMD Calamian, a rare adult Palawan Hill Mynah was rescued in Barangay Concepcion, Busuanga. The vigilant monitoring and enforcement team from DMD Calamian conducted routine checks on establishments in the area, when a local resident voluntarily turned over the endangered bird to the team.
The Palawan Hill Mynah, known for its vibrant plumage and distinctive calls, is a protected species under RA 9147 otherwise known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001. The owner’s willingness to surrender the bird highlights the importance of community collaboration in wildlife conservation efforts.
It is noteworthy that the Palawan Hill Mynah is classified as a โCritically Endangered Speciesโ under PCSD Resolution 23-967, highlighting the importance of wildlife preservation.
