The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) conducted multiple enforcement operations from October to December 2025, resulting in the confiscation of large volumes of regulated marine species in El Nido, Puerto Princesa, and Coron.
On October 15, 2025, PCSDS officers seized assorted reef fish in Bucana, El Nido, including oversized, undersized, and good-sized Suno, Tiger Suno, Whiteline grouper, Ulpot, Lawihan, Strawberry cod, and Red cod. Two individuals were apprehended for transporting these without the required Wildlife Special Use Permit (WSUP) and supporting documents.
At the Puerto Princesa International Airport, enforcement personnel confiscated 54 pieces of regulated fish packed in two boxes after the shipper failed to present a Local Transport Permit (LTP).
Meanwhile, on December 2, 2025, PCSDS intercepted another shipment at the Coron Seaport, recovering 66 Suno, 24 Tiger Suno, 27 Ulpot, 1 Oblong, and 9 Lawihan. The individuals involved failed to present the required Local Transport Permit (LTP) and Wildlife Special Use Permit (WSUP) for transporting species listed under Administrative Orders 5 and 12, resulting in immediate confiscation.
PCSDS emphasized that the transport and possession of wildlife species, particularly reef fish regulated under Administrative Order No. 5 (AO 5) and Administrative Order No. 12 (AO 12), require valid permits to ensure the sustainability of Palawanโs marine ecosystems.
The agency said it will continue its intensified enforcement operations to deter illegal extraction, trade, and transport of regulated wildlife species across the province.
