It refers to the benefits that humans derive from the ecosystem, including goods like timber, fish, crops, medicinal plants and freshwater as well as services such as water purification, flood and erosion control, aesthetic, recreational, and cultral values.

Everything that nature provides has value and healthy ecosystems are essential for the continued provision of goods and services that sustain human societies and economies. Before immersing ourself into nature this weekend, let’s pause and reflect for a while on the gifts it offers us and how we can reciprocate its generosity and abundance!
