𝟏𝟓 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒; 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧, 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧 – The Monitoring and Enforcement Section of DMD Calamian seized eighteen (18) regular-sized Live Suno, one (1) oversized Live Suno measuring 51 cm, and four (4) Susie. The confiscated live fish were promptly released at the Siete Pecados Marine Park, located in Barangay Tagumpay, Coron, Palawan, in a coordinated effort with the Siete Pecados Management.
The enforcement action took place at exactly 5:02 in the afternoon, highlighting the commitment of DMD Calamian to curb illegal wildlife activities in the region. The decision to release the confiscated fish into the marine park aimed to preserve the local ecosystem.
The seizure was prompted by the absence of a valid Wildlife Special Use Permit RFF for Suno and a valid Wildlife Special Use Permit for Susie as required under PCSD Administrative Order No. 12, emphasizing the importance of adhering to wildlife protection regulations. The suspect may face legal consequences for the violation as PCSD strives to maintain the delicate balance of Palawan’s diverse ecosystem.
The PCSDS reminds the public that any violation of the law and illegal possession of wildlife species, whether flora or fauna, are strictly prohibited and have corresponding penalties under Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.
The PCSDS strongly advises anyone who has knowledge of any illegal activity involving wildlife species to immediately report or call the PCSDS Wildlife Enforcement Unit (WEU) hotline (TNT) 09319642128 and (TM) 09656620248, or the PCSDS Front Desk hotline (Globe/TM) 0935-116-2336 and (Smart/TNT) 0948-937-2200.
