𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚, 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧, 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥, 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧, 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒-The PCSDS – DMD South Staff addressed relevant concerns during Environmentally Critical Areas Network (ECAN) Board Meetings held in Narra and Rizal, Palawan.
Narra ECAN Board meeting was held to evaluate the proposed development projects in the municipality. The creation of SEP Monitoring Team was consequently discussed to ensure that projects are not detrimental to the environment and are properly implemented. In addition, PCSDS Legal Services Section staff Mr. Dennis Creach Barcelona elaborated PCSDS AO 6 or the Revised Guidelines in the Implementation of SEP Clearance System as well as PCSDS AO 7 or the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulation of Chainsaw Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, Rizal ECAN Board meeting was held to review the Wildlife Special Use Permit (WSUP) Applications, and ascertain proper action regarding a report on Almaciga Collection and Trade among other issues.
The District Management Offices serve as the ECAN Board Secretariat and ensure that meetings are regularly conducted to discuss relevant issues. Ms. Ma. Cristina C. Rodriguez and Ms. Janet C. Felizarte represented DMD South in the Narra ECAN Board, while Mr. Ian Christian A. Vega and Ms. Jonamarie C. Licpan sat in the Rizal ECAN Board meeting.
PCSD Resolution No. 05-250 identifies ECAN Boards as a local multi-sectoral body created to coordinate and advise the LGU. Purposely, to assist in developing plans and programs to implement ECAN; the protection and management of the environment; the sustainable utilization of natural resources; and, ensuring compatibility of development projects among others.
