In contrast to the existing traditional economy of โ€œtake-make-disposeโ€, where products are used and then thrown away, the circular economy is a more sustainable approach that keeps materials and products in the production and consumption cycle for as long as possible. This extends their life cycle and promotes the most efficient and optimal use of our limited resources.

Unlike recycling, which happens after the productโ€™s life is over, the circular economy DESIGNS products from the very beginning to last for multiple lifecycles. This means products are intentionally created to be reused, repaired and remanufactured and brought back to the production and consumption cycle all over again, preventing them from going to waste too soon or from becoming waste at all.
